Torque Converter Rebuild
We remanufacture welded and factory assembled torque converters. Factory assembled torque converters are assembled with fastners and have to be larger in size to account for their design. Typically they are designed to not only transmit power through the hydrodynamic coupling, but also run hydraulic pump drives.
Welded converters take a considerable amount of tooling and experience to remanufacture. There are typicaly multiple cuts made to account for the converter itself and then the internal lock-up which is welded seperately. Once the bearings and lock-up discs are replaced the converter can be assembled and dialed in with special tooling so it can be welded. Once welded the converters are transfred to a tank where they are submerged in hot water and pressurized to check for leaks.
Welded torque converters are typically cut to inspect them for damage and remove all contaminated oil left behind from a failure. The parts are usually proprietary to factory. This means only discs, seals, and bearings can be replaced. If the core components such as the impeller, stator, or turbine have bad blades they are not repairable.
The process of producing heavy equipment transmissions and torque converters begins with an OEM core unit previously utilized in a piece of off-road heavy equipment. Industrial Reman takes these cores and disassembles these units. After inspection, We either repair or replace the component parts for use in later assembly operations. All gaskets, seals, clutches and critical components are replaced with new parts. All of the complete transmissions and torque converters fit the category of a remanufactured product.
